If you have an installed WordPress blog, you really want to use the plugin called “PuSHPress” — it will automatically ping RSS feed readers (such as Google Reader), almost real-time, whenever you have a new post. It uses PubHubSubbub technology, which was introduced my Google earlier this year.
Another tip is to add more places to ping under Settings –> Writing –> Update Services.
While pingomatic.com is default, I would recommend adding the following (can just copy-paste):
http://rpc.pingomatic.com/
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2
http://blogmatcher.com/u.php
http://coreblog.org/ping/

http://ping.bitacoras.com
