I am sure you’ve seen tons of “top lists” of resources for e-commerce information. Here, I will only provide sources I actually follow myself—a list that is manageable for 1 person.
It does look pretty short (and I thought it would be much longer), but provides essential information. If anything huge occurs, changes are, you’ll receive that information thru several of the below blogs/sites.
Get Elastic (www.getelastic.com)
Great blog for everything related to e-commerce. VERY high quality content. A must to follow.
Matt Cutts Blog (www.mattcutts.com/blog)
Head of Google’s Webspam team and a face of the Google’s Webmaster Central (googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com) or on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/googlewebmasterhelp
Amazing SEO and webmaster-related content from a Google employee.
Search Engine Land (http://searchengineland.com)
Top resource for the SEOs and webmasters. Anything search-engine related.
Small Business Search Marketing (www.smallbusinesssem.com)
Great resource by Matt McGee, an online marketing professional. He writes about SEO, social media, search marketing and other online marketing topics.
Google Merchant Blog (googlemerchantblog.blogspot.com)
You absolutely have to make your products available in Google Product Search, often giving popular products top position within the “Shopping Results.” Their blog doesn’t update too often, but when it does, it’s worth reading.
Personally I don’t have time to read all the articles, but it is great to scan, especially regular “Industry Buzz & Snippets”—to make sure you don’t miss anything.
Smashing Magazine (www.smashingmagazine.com)
I used to read every article when I was a web designer—a great resource for free fonts, icons, web best practices, etc. Great to scan for e-commerce professionals.
